  • (1888PressRelease) November 03, 2012 - LONDON - The 5x Grammy Award winning and one of the biggest musical acts of all time, TLC, is being honored at the 17th Annual MOBO Awards in Liverpool, England on Saturday, November 3rd. The multi-platinum selling trio will receive the MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at this year's show.

Attending their very first MOBO Awards, band members T-Boz and Chilli are thrilled about the recognition they are receiving. "We are so excited to be receiving this award. It's been such a long time since we've been to London and this honor means so much to us. The love from the UK has been absolutely wonderful", says Chilli.

TLC began their claim to fame in the early 1990s and comprised of members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. The high-spirited, vibrant, multi-colored wearing trio from Atlanta, GA released their debut album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip in 1992, with the hit songs "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg", "What About Your Friends" and "Baby Baby Baby". Their sophomore release, 1994's CrazySexyCool resulted in 4 chart-topping singles "Creep", "Red Light Special", "Diggin on You", and "Waterfalls", multiple awards for the band including 2 Grammy Awards and 4 MTV Video Music Awards and sold over 11 million records. 1999's Fanmail brought more success for the band with the hit female anthem "No Scrubs" and "Unpretty" and with that came 3 more Grammys.

Despite the tragic loss of their beloved group member Left Eye in 2002, T-Boz and Chilli have continued the legacy of TLC both as a group and individually. Later in 2002 the duo released the group's 4th album, 3D which featured songs with Left Eye's raps. In 2005, T-Boz and Chilli starred in their own reality TV show, "R U the Girl", which went in search of one lucky fan to record a new song and perform alongside them. A few years down the road in 2009, T-Boz went on to become a contestant on Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice". Chilli later went on to star in two seasons of her hit VH1 reality show, "What Chilli Wants, debuting in 2010. Currently TLC is hard at work executive producing their movie to air on VH1 next year.

The MOBO Awards will air live in the UK on Saturday and feature performances from many of Britain's top musicians including Stooshe who will perform their popular remake to TLC's "Waterfalls" The MOBO Awards will also feature a performance from American artist Trey Songz and honor industry veteran, Dionne Warwick with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her 50 years of success in the music business.
