  • (1888PressRelease) January 26, 2015 - Over the years, human resources (HR) functions have been evolving to reflect its importance in the sustainability (survival) of organizations, regardless of size, power, or geographical boundaries. "Globalization and the ubiquity of technology have placed HR management processes at the top-of-mind awareness for executives, board members, and even shareholders because an inefficient workforce could mean the death of their organizations," says Delroy Morgan, lead organizer of Leaders-to-Leaders speaker series. Morgan commented further, "It is critically important that executives responsible for employee recruitment and retention be kept up-to-date on best practices that will enable them to enhance their own HR processes and positively transform their organizations into capacity building and value creating enterprises.

    Under the theme "HRM's Strategic Challenges In A Digital Age, Leaders-to-Leaders Speaker Series has invited a remarkable list of leading experts in the field of workforce management to discuss some of the challenges impacting the functions of HR management in Jamaica. This 3rd event in the 2014/15 four-part speaker series is scheduled to be held Wednesday 28th January 2015 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

    Speakers invited to speak include:
    Sheree Martin, Senior Vice-President of Customer and Corporate Affairs, Jamaica Public Services Company (JPSCo.). Mrs. Martin, a rising star in the executive suites of corporate Jamaica, has several years of experience in the areas of: Human Resource Services, Marketing and Customer Services, Corporate Communications and Government & Regulatory Affairs. Currently a member of the Jamaica Public Services Company's (JPSCo.) senior management team, Sheree has overall responsibility for leading the company's "Corporate Transformation, bringing together the foundation of human resources with customer service and all stakeholder and public relations initiatives" leading towards long-term sustainable growth.

    Sheree's presentation is titled "HR's Role In Developing Intellectual Capital and Value Creation."

    Rickert "Rick" Allen - For more than twenty-five years, Rickert Allen has been a leading HR practitioner in Jamaica's bauxite, alumina and financial services industries. Currently the senior General Manager of Group Human Resources Division at banking powerhouse, National Commercial Bank (NCB). At NCB, Mr. Allen's core mandates are the development and direction of strategies for the effective and efficient management of NCB's human capital, the establishment and maintenance of a Talent Portfolio Framework to facilitate talent acquisition, engagement, development, deployment, rotation and workforce planning and to position the HR function of NCB Group as a strategic driver in order to create a work environment conducive to high levels of employee productivity, engagement and customer service excellence.

    Rick will be presenting on the topic "The Impact of Globalization and Technology on Managing People."

    Ingrid Emmons - A former senior executives in financial and telecom industries both in the United States and Jamaica, Ms. Emmons is currently the Director of Human Resources of Gordon "Butch" Stewart's Sandals Resorts International (SRI) a leading operator of luxurious all-inclusive resorts throughout Jamaica and Caribbean. At SRI, Ingrid is responsible for guiding and managing the organization's overall strategic Human Resources services, policies and programs.

    Ingrid's presentation is on "HRM's Role In Building and Maintaining Organizational Efficiency."

    Karl Williams - has a long and impressive track record of successes in the area of Sales and Marketing, Training & Development, and Human Resource Management in Jamaica's life insurance and financial sectors. Currently, a senior executive at Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited, one of the premier insurance companies in Jamaica, Mr. Williams serves as Vice President, Group Human Resources. At the center of Karl's mandate as Sagicor Life, is the development and promotion of a high-performance culture by implementing strategies aligned with Sagicor's overall corporate and social responsibilities.
    Karl's presentation will focus on "Moral judgment and ethical leadership in the hiring process."

    Mrs. Brenda Cuthbert - drawing on an expansive experience, a well-developed and clearly articulated perspectives, Mrs. Cuthbert will moderate the interactive question and answer session of the event.

    Having worked previously as The General Manager at the Caribbean's largest credit Union, City of Kingston Co-Operative Credit Union (COK) following 19 years at National Commercial Bank, NCB. Brenda brings an excellent business acumen to any discussion on HR management and policies and practices. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Jamaica Employers' Federation (JEF) the leading lobby group for employers in Jamaica.

    "One of the aims of this speaker series event was to assemble the best of the best HR practitioners to address a number of critically important topics affecting the practice of human resources management, and to do so within the context of Jamaica," says Ruth Dwyer-Straw, one of the organizers of the Speaker Series. Dwyer-Straw went on to say, "I believe we have successfully achieved that goal."
