  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2011 - As part of our ongoing efforts to bring quality care and convenient healthcare services to the residents of Lee county and surrounding communities, Central Carolina Hospital announces a new service that allows patients with non-life threatening conditions to hold a place online at the Emergency Room.

InQuickER™ will allow patients to pay a small fee, complete an online form, and choose the projected time they will be seen by a healthcare professional. This will allow sick patients to wait in the comfort of their homes.

"We know our patients want more convenience and communication when using emergency services," explained Dean Flynn, RN, director of the emergency room at CCH. "The InQuickER service complements Central Carolina's MedHost patient tracking system implemented last year to manage patient care and document care times in the ER. These tools have reduced wait times to approximately 30 minutes or less. And while the wait times are already shortened, and visible on our website, InQuickER allows the patient to wait in the comfort of their home, which may also reduce exposure to others who are waiting to be seen." said Flynn.

InQuickER does not affect the wait times of other Emergency Room patients, nor does it allow patients with a scheduled time to "cut" in front of other patients. If the projected treatment time changes due to an influx of patients requiring priority treatment, the InQuickER users will be notified and given alternate times, or a refund. At Central Carolina, the fee for using InQuickER is $9.99.

The Emergency Department at Central Carolina Hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies and is staffed by board-certified physicians and emergency-trained personnel. The Emergency Department consists of 15 beds, including eight exam rooms, two trauma beds, and a specialized casting room. To enhance emergency care for local patients, Central Carolina offers Advanced Life Support and has a helipad to allow for rapid helicopter transportation.
