  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2015 - Today, GraMedica announces a new International Center of Excellence (ICOE) with Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal in Singapore. The HyProCure ICOE program recognizes expert physicians, medical groups, and health care centers accomplished at performing Extra-Osseous TaloTarsal Stabilization (EOTTS) with HyProCure and providing consummate post-operative care.

Dr. K. Kannan is a distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Foot and Ankle (F&A) disorders and member of multiple medical societies, including American Orthopedic F&A Society (AOFAS), European F&A Society (EFAS), and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), Dr. Kannan has been on the forefront of foot reconstruction and minimally invasive surgery of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Kannan's clinical expertise includes sports injuries, ligament injuries and tendinopathies, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery for management of cartilage defects, foot and ankle fractures, correction of flatfeet and high arched feet and management of arthritis including total ankle replacement and osteotomies. Early in his career he was involved with the surgical teams treating elite European athletes.

"We are so thrilled to be adding Dr. Kannan and the Centre for Foot & Ankle Surgery in Singapore to our ICOE program", said Ashleigh Costello, who spearheads Training and Education at GraMedica. "Not only does Singapore have some of the highest medical standards and health care facilities around the globe, but Dr. Kannan's exceptional care facility will help enhance the quality of life for those suffering with flexible flat feet in the Asia Pacific region."

Dislocation of the talotarsal joint, in the hindfoot, often appears as flatfoot. Left untreated, talotarsal joint dislocation can lead to serious, long-term foot, knee, hip, and back related issues that often require aggressive forms of surgery. The minimally invasive EOTTS with HyProCure® procedure has provided tens of thousands of pediatric and adult patients with immediate correction for congenital/acquired talotarsal joint dislocation.
