  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2012 - The orchestra features children ranging in age from 7 to 13 and soloists include the California Champion in her age group, Abigel Szilagyi playing "Latin Dance".

The orchestra highlights will include Monti's Csardas, Paganini's 24 Variations for String Orchestra, Hungarian Recruiting Dance, Mozart's Small Divertimento, Fiocco Allegro, and many other exciting pieces.

CEMALA provides its young musicians a doorway into the world of music, setting standards of excellence that could prepare them for careers in music at an international level.

Nonetheless, the Director strives to maintain an element of fun and enjoyment among her students, best summed up by one of her students who wrote, "I like to show my feelings through my violin, like painting colors on a canvas". CEMALA students just recently won 9 golds and numerous 2nd and 3rds in summer violin competitions in Arcadia and the prestigious Southwestern Youth Music Festival in Long Beach.

Future plans for the orchestra include a 2014 European concert tour to the cradles of classical music in Budapest, Vienna and other European cities where the famous masters' legacy still lives on.

The Academy is under the leadership of the Hungarian born violinist Magdolna Berezvai, who has brought to Los Angeles the skills she learned in her musical studies in Budapest, proving again that music is truly an international language! Says Director Berezvai, "Though our Chamber Orchestra plays at very high level, the Academy welcomes beginners to our ranks. The little ones get to learn the basics of music and have lots of fun in the process of developing into proficient and accomplished artists.

During concerts, we know we have achieved our goal when the spark jumps over to the audience! Our music entertains our guests and is fun for us to make. We practice hard and gather new experiences from numerous performances. That's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun, as we take various opportunities to combine practices with other fun evens like swimming, water-balloon fights and performance trips to theme parks, shopping malls and other community venues."

Our guest for this concert is the San Gabriel Valley Children's Chorus. This group prides itself on its pursuit of musical enrichment and excellence. They celebrate diversity through the study of choral music, and share with their surrounding communities the cross-cultural diffusion of musical traditions.Their major accomplishments include:
