  • (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2014 - Dave Kelly, the popular former host of Citytv Calgary's Breakfast Television, is getting his plaid on as celebrity emcee for the Fourth Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner and FUNdraiser on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Calgary's Beth Tzedec Congregation.

Twice a recipient of the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Association award for his work on Citytv, Kelly is a playwright and actor who has brought numerous characters to life in English dubs of foreign films. He has hosted live interviews with 23,000 people including former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf and Tim Horton's Co-Founder Ron Joyce.

"We are thrilled that Dave Kelly is sharing his speaking and comedic talents with Burnstein guests. Calgarians love him," said Burnstein originator and chair Leonard Seidman.

The Burnstein Dinner - a Scottish-themed event with a uniquely Jewish twist - honours the memory and poetry of Robert Burns (1759 - 1796). Highlights include a Highlands-inspired kosher dinner catered by the Palliser Hotel, fine spirits, hilarious toasts, a live auction featuring celebrity auctioneer Sheldon Smithens, of Canadian Pickers fame, and performances by the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band, the Calgary Burns Club Singers and the Bow Valley Fiddlers.

Calgary entrepreneur and philanthropist Sam Switzer and his clan are once again the lead family sponsors, joined by lead corporate sponsor ATB Financial and a growing list of private and corporate sponsors. Honourary Dinner Co-Chair is Gerry Wood, President of Wood Automotive Group.

All proceeds support education and outreach by Beth Tzedec and the Woodridge PREP Centre, a Calgary-based program that advocates for and supports youth with Down Syndrome.

The Fourth Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner and FUNdraiser takes place Thursday February 5, 2015 at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail SW. www.RobbieBurnstein.com for full details.
