  • Gulfport-Biloxi, MS (1888PressRelease) January 30, 2024 - Children are taken on a journey through the alphabet and a precious bedtime ritual in this beautifully illustrated story; parents and caregivers can pledge to the book’s launch in January 2024

Datriana Franklin, founder of children’s publishing imprint 3 Heartbeats, has announced the official debut of her new children’s book, “A” to Sleep. Parents and caregivers everywhere will have an exclusive opportunity to contribute to the launch of this precious bedtime story when the official Kickstarter campaign goes live on January 30, 2024.

Franklin is a wife and mom of three who has always had a passion for books and telling stories to her children. She integrates her love for storytelling in “A” to Sleep, a BIPOC children’s story that takes readers on a journey through the alphabet and a precious bedtime routine with main character Arya, named after Franklin’s daughter, and her mom. Imagination blooms with beautiful illustrations by Mississippi native and digital artist Ebony Samuels, and Franklin weaves in elephants, twinkling stars, and much more to inspire learning and love.

“This book is inspired by my daughter, Arya, who has autism,” said Franklin. “I’ve woven her favorite activities into the story, such as her love for singing, the fun she finds in bath time, and her incredible speed when she runs. These are all special parts of her I wanted to celebrate in the book.”

Reader’s Favorite Award recently reviewed “A” to Sleep and had this to say:

“A” to Sleep is a delightful book for preschoolers and teachers tackling early literacy. It’s a rich learning device for young children for their first experience of the alphabet.

Statistics show that literacy rates in young children are declining, with 37% of children entering kindergarten without the skills they need for lifetime learning. Parents and caregivers play a critical role in literacy readiness. Reading to children is cited to expose them to at least 290,000 more words by the time they arrive at kindergarten than those who aren’t read to. Stories such as “A” to Sleep offer the perfect reading readiness opportunity for children, especially those from diverse ethnicities who might better relate to Arya and her mom, while also offering a cherished bedtime ritual.

When “A” to Sleep debuts on Kickstarter, people everywhere will have the opportunity to support early literacy while receiving special perks in exchange. Details on these perks will be available when the campaign launches. Stay up to date by visiting https://atosleep.com/.
