  • (1888PressRelease) April 21, 2011 - San Diego, CA - Newly released results of a survey back up what Healthy Choice Naturals has been observing since the natural supplements company started in 2003, that the use of dietary supplements is now common among the U.S. adult population. According to a Data Brief ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db61.htm ) issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics this month, over half the population used supplements between 2003-2006.

As a leading provider of natural supplements, herbal supplements and natural vitamins, Healthy Choice Naturals is also looking to the results for information on which type of supplements are being taken, whether they're being taken by men or women, and in which ages groups.

The Data Brief is based on the results of a CDC survey that examined dietary supplement use among adults from 2003 to 2006, and compared it to use in 1988 to 1994. According to the data measured, multivitamins were the most commonly used supplement, with 40% of men and women reporting that they take a daily multivitamin from 2003 to 2006. Healthy Choice Naturals' Full Spectrum™ Daily Multinatural supplements are among the company's top sellers, compared to other natural supplements, herbal supplements and natural vitamins.

"This new report gives us valuable information about the steady rise of the use of supplements as well as which types of supplements are being used the most," said Kim Darling, Vice President of Healthy Choice Naturals. "We believe that natural supplements made from only high-quality ingredients are the best way to meet the growing demand."

Use of supplemental calcium among women aged 60 and over was up to 61% in the 2003-2006 vs. just 28% in the 1988-1994 survey. According to Darling, "As more women and look for ways to keep their bones strong, and fight osteoarthritis, we anticipate increasing demand for pure, natural supplements containing calcium."

The Data Brief noted that use of dietary supplements containing vitamin D were up from 1988-1994 through 1999-2002 for both men and women in most age groups. Natural supplements containing vitamin D are important because vitamin D is found in few foods, and experts have linked vitamin D deficiency to health problems that include cancer and heart disease. One of its most popular sellers, Healthy Choice Naturals' Vitamin D natural supplements' formula combines vitamin D with natural vitamins that boost the body's metabolism of vitamin D.

"The report tells us that for the racial and ethnic groups studied, the use of supplements grew most strong among older age groups," said Darling. "We try to educate consumers about the benefits of taking natural, herbal supplements to replace declining levels of nutrients and natural vitamins."

Healthy Choice Naturals offers natural supplements for people of every age, including natural supplements with folic acid for pre-natal health, supplements for sexual health, tanning and weight loss. Which top sellers at Healthy Choice Naturals were not covered in the CDC survey? Natural pet supplements.
