  • (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2011 - Toronto - The Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) is pleased to announce that Dwight Drummond, co-host of CBC News Toronto, and Garvia Bailey, host and producer of Big City, Small World on CBC Radio One, 99.1 FM will serve as hosts of the 29th Annual Harry Jerome Awards. The gala ceremony will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre on Saturday, April 30, 2011, 5:30pm.

    The Harry Jerome Awards are an annual celebration of African Canadian achievements and pays tribute to outstanding and inspirational individuals who are true role models in the community. Established in the memory of Harry Jerome - a distinguished African Canadian Olympic athlete, scholar and social advocate - the awards have recognized over 300 exceptional people from across the country since their inception in 1983.
    Award categories include Academics; Arts; Athletics; Business; Community Service; Entertainment; Health Sciences; Leadership; Media; Professional Excellence; Technology & Innovation; Young Entrepreneur. Additionally, four special awards were chosen by the BBPA Board of Directors including the Lifetime Achievement Award; the President's Award; the Trailblazer Award and for the first time, the Diversity Award.
