  • (1888PressRelease) November 26, 2013 - Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County has joined GivingTuesday, a global movement that harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners-charities, families, businesses and individuals-to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

Taking place December 3, 2013 - the Tuesday after Black Friday - GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.

Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County joined GivingTuesday to raise funds in support of the work they do in the community. The non-profit organization offers professional counselling services and education to those in need across Simcoe County.

"GivingTuesday provides a very unique opportunity to participate in something that serves the greater good of each community. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of donors and supporters to meet the growing demand for our services. GivingTuesdays help us to raise awareness and support for the programs and services we provide across all of Simcoe County." said Wanda Rae, Executive Director, Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County.

GivingTuesday, initiated in Canada by CanadaHelps, GIV3, and several other partners, marks the opening day of the giving season. The movement encourages individuals and organizations to join together and find innovative ways to give back to the charities and causes they support throughout the holiday season. Momentum is rapidly building, with 15 organizations having enthusiastically pledged their support by becoming Giving Tuesday Founding Partners and inviting all Canadians to participate.

Charities, business, media and even individuals are encouraged to join in making a pledge to participate to make Canada's first annual GivingTuesday a resounding success. Canadians can learn how to get involved or sign up for free partnership at GivingTuesday.ca. Each week, new organizations have joined the movement and are providing creative ways people can embrace GivingTuesday and collaborate in their giving efforts to create more meaningful results.
