Cary Rotary Club To Hold 10th Annual Chili Dinner Fundraiser

  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) January 11, 2013 - The Cary Rotary Club will hold its 10th annual Chili Dinner fundraiser on Friday, January 25. Proceeds will be used to fight hunger locally and internationally. Lunch will be served from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church in Cary, 200 High Meadow Drive. The Cary Rotary Club is seeking additional event sponsors and invites the public to purchase tickets to the event.

    The Cary Rotary Club started the hunger relief fundraising effort ten years ago, and has raised more than $227,000. Funds have been donated locally to the Interfaith Food Shuttle, Urban Ministries and other organizations. Internationally, funds have been donated to Stop Hunger Now for hunger relief in Africa, Haiti and Southeast Asia.

    The club expects to raise over $35,000 this year, pushing the total for hunger relief efforts to more than a quarter of a million dollars. Funds are raised from local businesses that purchase sponsorships and individuals buying tickets. For the fourth year in a row the event sponsor is Atlantic Tire & Service. Presenting sponsors are, Carquest; G.H. Jordan Development Company; Haddock Collision; Harold K. Jordan & Co, Inc.; Howard, Stallings, From, & Hutson, P.A.; Liberty Tax Services; S&A Cherokee; and Travel Management Partners. Whole Foods in Cary is a sponsor of the event and will provide the chili. Over 110 businesses participated as sponsors last year.

    Tickets are available for purchase in advance from any Cary Rotary Club member and at the door during lunch or dinner. Last year the club served 1,250 meals at lunch and dinner.
