Canned Food Pyramid Being Constructed for Charity
The largest pyramid of canned food ever to feed the needy, will be assembled at Johnny's Pizza located at 1465 Chattahoochee Ave, Atlanta GA 30318.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2010 - October 30th, 2010 between 3-5pm - The gigantic tower of cans will be measured and delivered to the Atlanta Food Bank for distribution amongst those in need.
Now is the time to give back to our communities and neighbors. The economy is tough and many of our neighbors are without work, losing their homes and struggling to feed their families. This is a great opportunity for all of us to support one another and build each other up. These are our neighborhoods, this is our community. "The idea is to come together and build community camaraderie, much like we did immediately following the 9-11 catastrophe. "It still amazes me today, years later, how quickly and effortlessly we all came together to overcome that unforgettable devastation." says Chad Gillam the event coordinator. The men of MDI realize helping each other out now will undoubtedly make a positive impact on every one's future. Residents are encouraged to play a part while shopping this Halloween weekend. Come out and support us in creating the world's largest pyramid of can food to feed the hungry.
Gillam enlisted the help of men around him to pull off the event. "This is a real team effort. There is just so much to do for an event like this. I could not have done it alone."
Gillam is part of MDI, or Men's Division International, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and nurturing men. MDI is a national organization comprised of local chapters, Atlanta being named the Dog Soldiers, of which Gillam and his food pyramid team are associated with. It is hoped by performing community service events, like the food pyramid, MDI and the Dog Soldiers can get the word out that MDI is here and ready to help men's live better lives.
Men, women and children are encouraged to donate All food donated will be picked up by the Atlanta Food Bank and used in their efforts to combat hunger in Atlanta.
