    Well known for his support of local charities, Smithens will be conducting a special Burnstein live auction featuring fabulous items including a luxury auto lease, vacation getaways and a beautiful Swiss time piece. All proceeds support community education and outreach by Beth Tzedec and the Woodridge PREP Centre, a Calgary-based program that advocates for and supports youth with Down Syndrome.

    Emceed this year by media and entertainment celebrity Dave Kelly, the Burnstein Dinner - a Scottish event with a uniquely Jewish twist - honours the memory and poetry of the "Scottish Bard", Robert Burns (1759 - 1796). Other highlights include a Highlands-inspired, kosher gourmet dinner catered by the Palliser Hotel, fine spirits, hilarious toasts, and performances by the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band, the Calgary Burns Club Singers, and the Bow Valley Fiddlers.
