  • (1888PressRelease) January 16, 2012 - 'When you have something that you're so passionate about that you can live for every day, it makes life a lot more purposeful and meaningful to you and the way you live it'.

Camryn Wessner is only 19 years old. But she knows what she wants.

The Dothan, Alabama-born singer-songwriter who now currently calls Gainsville, Florida home may be young but the adage is true when it comes to her: Age is nothing but a number. Her musical experience may have sprung just recently but this doesn't necessarily mean it's not brimming with fiery passion.

As a little girl, Camryn sang in church because her grandmother inspired her to sing and play music. She grew up listening to the music styling of John Mellencamp and Allison Kraus, and she had learned to play the piano, ukulele, guitar, and harmonica. Then she developed even further, writing her own lyrics and music. She became the vocalist for a band called Victory Blvd in high school and the time she spent in the group proved to be a great experience. Not only did she learn how to hone her musical talents, she was able to boost her confidence playing on stage in front of a crowd. Of course like anything, bands had to break up and Camryn walked away a different person - the better version of herself.

As Camryn set her sights on a stellar music debut, she was mentored by notable musical forces - respected producers Stan Lynch, a founding member of band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Billy Chapin, who has worked with hitmakers from Backstreet Boys, O-Town, to Gainsville's very own, Sister Hazel. With Lynch and Chapin at the helm, Camryn was given a comfortable recording environment which reflects on her easy-listening type of sound. Lynch co-wrote with Camryn the title track to her EP 'Temporary'. 'They bring out the best in me', Camryn says about her super-producers.

What came out of those wonderful recording sessions is Camryn's very own EP that features six original tracks such as 'Polaroid' and 'Temporary', the latter speaking volumes of Camryn's personal philosophy. 'If you can't accept that most everything you come across is temporary, then you're going to have a hard time dealing with things… but it's good to be able to adapt…'

Recently, Camryn opened for Ken Block and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel at Florida Gateway College in Lake City. At the concert, Camryn was given some sage advice from one of her many musical inspirations. 'Ken… pulled me aside and (said), Writers don't talk about writing, they write. Singers don't talk about singing, they practice what they do. Keep doing what you're doing. Just don't forget to not stop,' Camryn shares.

Camryn Wessner is still growing and we will watch her as she continues to do so as a music artist. And it will be phenomenal.
