  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, OH (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2019 - The 2019 Tabbie Awards is now open and accepting submissions from both print and online publications worldwide. The global B2B journalism competition gives editors, art directors and publishers the opportunity to have their best work judged by peers throughout the world. Publications need not have international readership to qualify.

As the competition moves toward its 20th year, TABPI President Paul J. Heney said he has observed a renewed interest in programs such as the Tabbie Awards.

"Publication leaders are realizing more and more how critical it is to recognize editorial and design excellence," Heney said. "There is so much great journalism in the B2B world, from Auckland to London and Chicago to Johannesburg. There's a lot of individual job satisfaction in being appreciated, and many editors and designers thrive on recognition, both from their audiences and peer groups."

Heney explained that being honored in a competition such as the Tabbies serves as an effective marketing tool for publications to showcase to the world their focus on quality content. "Smart publications leverage their wins in competitions like the Tabbies. They promote the accolades to potential advertisers, showing they are a reputable publishing brand," he said.

The Tabbies' competition encompasses 18 categories, and is open to English-language B2B publications that are published at least three times a year, as well as online B2B publications. Unlike some more restrictive programs, publications are not required to maintain membership in an organization to be considered for the Tabbies — and entry fees remain among the lowest of comparable programs.

Categories in the Tabbies' editorial division include: Best Single Issue, Department, Editor's Column, Feature Article, Focus/Profile Article, How-To Article, Regular Column, Special Section, and Technical Article. Categories in the design division include: Feature Design, Front Cover, Digital Imagery; Front Cover, Illustration; Front Cover, Photograph; Front Cover, Special Issue; and Opening Page or Spread. The online division recognizes the most interactive, informative B2B websites, e-newsletters and the best use of social media.

The deadline for entries is March 12, 2019. A late fee applies after that date. Judges for the competition are culled from suggestions of regional editorial groups around the world. Winners will be announced on or about July 15th, 2019.

Trade, Association and Business Publications International, or TABPI (www.tabpi.org), is a global organization dedicated to bringing together editors working for English-language publications, and fostering a shared interest in editorial ethics and excellence. TABPI's editorial and design awards program, the Tabbie Awards, is open to English-language B2B publications in 40 countries, and encompasses 12 editorial and eight design categories.
