  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) October 06, 2012 - BlueRio Strategies gets approval from the Center for Credentialing and Education as the first military veteran-focused CCE, Board Certified Coach approved training program. It is also one of the USA's first comprehensive coach certification training program intended specifically to educate people in military veteran transition, reintegration and development coaching.

Over two years ago, Jessi LaCosta, BlueRio Strategies founder, upon seeing her friends, and clients face challenges unique to veterans, developed a coaching method specifically for service members reintegrating into the civilian sector. Only 1% of all Americans volunteer to serve in the USA armed forces. Yet, many after leaving the military are underemployed, unemployed or even worse - homeless. These numbers are growing daily and often at higher rates than non-military.

LaCosta believes that coaching, a proven valuable development tool can help change the future of these people. Like many others, she feels that for military and civilians alike - success is just around the corner. Coaches help to remove blind spots that are in the way. Wanting to further the reach of the coaching benefits she noticed her clients received, LaCosta created a curriculum to train others to offer the same system. In July 2012, she launched the pilot session and submitted the curriculum to the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) for provider approval. The application process is rigorous and acceptance is considered a mark of a high-quality, ethical and effective training program.

A graduate of the program reflected, "The course helped me develop insight, strategies and tools for coaching success! And a "Hawk Eye" to clearly see what a Veteran needs to understand, so they can achieve what they desire in their lives after transition!" Marte Cooksey, CVDC (Hawk Eye Certified Veteran Development Coach)

LaCosta named the program, Hawk Eye Veteran Development Coach Training. It teaches professionals how to uncover people's purpose and potential through mindful & innovative, military transition & career management training. LaCosta has a connection to the Hawk - and researched its symbolism in many cultures, such as Native Americans. "The Hawk inspires us to remove limiting thoughts and behavior and to open ourselves to change for an improved future. The hawk is considered a messenger. It helps people overcome difficult situations with perseverance and patience. Hawk also teaches us about clarity, illumination and focus on correct paths for a purposeful life." Jessi LaCosta

The training is offered virtually and runs approximately six weeks long. Students must take a final exam, commit to peer coaching and offer proof of coaching clients outside of the class before receiving their certificate. The next session begins October 18th, 2012.

The Hawk Eye Veteran Development Coaching™ process is based on empowering, inspiring and helping others to grow - strategically. Hawks bring insight, vision and support to those around them. Practitioners of the process remove barriers to success while uncovering hidden strengths so that people can move their visions from dreams to reality.

This process utilizes theories and practical applications stemming from strength-based development, positive psychology, Interpersonal neurobiology as well as branding, to assist in uncovering a veteran's best possible self.

Jessi LaCosta, CCE Board Certified Coach, instructs the course. Advisors include Joseph Almond - a Diversity and Leadership expert and Army veteran and Debra Pearce-McCall, PhD, LP, LMFT - President of GAINS and professor at Portland State.

The training is applicable for many professionals including teachers, trainers, admission counselors, nonprofit executives, counselors, HR professionals, therapists, military veterans, active duty military, military spouses and partners, and small business owners who employ veterans.

A Hawk Eye Coaching client said: "I was focusing on jobs that I was either overqualified for, or not interested in... I was also having difficulty translating my skills in a way that employers would understand. Jessi helped me see the value I could bring to a potential employer, and also to overcome some of the negative self-talk I was engaging in. I was able to focus my efforts while at the same time I was able to prevent myself from going in directions that really did not help me. The important thing is that I was able to focus on finding a career that aligns with what is most important to me. All I can say is, the Hawk Eye system works. Without Jessi I would likely still be looking for a job!" US Air Force Veteran
