Button Badges Funding Teens Empowerment in Kenya
A Kenyan charity has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Airfunding a global crowdfunding site, to raise funds to expand their button badges social venture that has been running since 2016. The Charity - Rural Teenagers Support Programme (RTSP) - focuses on the empowerment of vulnerable teenagers in rural areas of Kenya through programs in hygiene, life skills education, and Counseling Psychology
- (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2021 - A Kenyan-based non-profit, Rural Teenagers Support Programme (RTSP) which focuses on empowering vulnerable teenagers in rural Kenya, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Airfunding a global donation-type crowdfunding service that raises funds worldwide. RTSP is fundraising for its social venture called - Badges for Charity - which makes beautiful button badges to raise funds for its Teens Empowerment Programs. The badges program was started in 2016 as a long-term sustainable fundraising venture and has made a significant contribution to RTSP funding. Each badge sold contributes US$0.25 to RTSP.
Over the years, operating costs have gone up, while funding has reduced. The RTSP’s team decided to expand the badge-making venture to increase its turnover and ultimately raise more funds. To do so, we settled for crowdfunding as a way to raise the required amount of US$1,500 that will go towards the purchase of new badge-making parts and equipment, and also marketing. This amount will purchase parts that can make 17,000 badges, which will generate a turnover of US$8,500. This will allow the Badges for Charity venture to increase its working capital and raise a substantial amount for our non-profit.

RTSP currently we have three programs; Teens Hygiene, Teens Life Skills Education, and Psychological Counselling. Our organization is registered by the NGOs Co-ordination Board Kenya.
