  • Des Moines, IA (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2016 - Todd Buchacker will be leaving his role as Producing Artistic Director at StageWest Theatre Company following the production of Jordan Harrison's "Marjorie Prime" in January 2017. His departure is part of an overall restructuring process that StageWest is undertaking to support long-term sustainability. Buchacker had been the artistic director for the theatre company since March 2014, successfully leading the company through multiple artistic seasons in its new home at the Des Moines Social Club.

"StageWest Board of Directors is in the process of evaluating all aspects of the company's operations," said Board of Directors' president Dave Miglin. "Todd has served us well as artistic director, however, the dual roles of artistic and business management are unsustainable. As we continue to map out the future of the theatre company, we anticipate more changes that will support the long-term survival and success of the theatre. We are grateful to our donors, artists, subscribers, and audiences who believe in our mission and continue to support our work."

StageWest will continue to produce the remaining shows of its 2016-17 season including "August, Osage County" by Tracy Letts (a collaboration with Repertory Theater of Iowa) in March 2017 and "Hir" by Taylor Mac in May 2017 and "Seed" A World Premiere by Scott Bradley.
