  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2020 - Bruce H. Levitt, Managing Partner, Levitt & Slafkes, P.C., was recently interviewed on The Small Business Advocate Show, where he discussed key steps for small business owners to take before and after deciding whether or not to reopen.

During the show, Levitt explained the importance for small business owners to prioritize where their money goes first when they find themselves in a position of financial strain. “There are certain creditors that should get paid first and, unfortunately, there are other creditors that should wait. The landlord, for instance, if the funds are available, especially if there’s PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) funds, should be paid first.”

Bruce also discussed the new Subchapter 5 Bankruptcy for small business owners, implemented in February 2020, which is a Chapter 11 reorganization. “It gives them a relatively inexpensive streamlined process to reorganize the business. The focus is to get these small businesses in and out of bankruptcy in six months or less.”
