  • (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2012 - NEW YORK CITY - Brooke Anderson of CBS's THE INSIDER is honored to be co-hosting Love 146's 10th anniversary gala on Thursday, September 20th in New York City. Joining Anderson and Love146 at New York City's Edison Ballroom will be special guests, grammy-award winning musician Vince Gill and actress Carrie Preston and many more.

Love146, an international organization working to end child trafficking and exploitation will be introducing new anti-trafficking initiatives on the night that include prevention education in U.S. classrooms and survivor care for U.S. children.

As a mother, Brooke has a personal affinity with Love 146's cause, saying, " Victims of human trafficking are children that didn't choose this for their life, the need help and the offenders need to be stopped and brought to justice, this process starts with awareness that it is happening across the world and in our own back yard."

Love 146, co-founders Rob Morris, Lamont Hiebert, Desirea Rodgers and Caroline Hahm went on an exploratory trip in 2002 to Southeast Asia to determine how best to combat the issue of child sex trafficking. In Asian brothels, they saw young children sold for sex.

"We found ourselves standing shoulder to shoulder with predators in a small room, looking at little girls through a pane of glass," said President and Co-Founder Rob Morris. "All of the girls wore red dresses with a number pinned to their dress for identification. Sorrow covered their faces with nothingness. Except one girl. Her number was 146. She was looking beyond the glass. She was staring out at us with a piercing gaze. There was still fight left in her eyes. There was still life left in this girl. We have taken her number so that we remember why this all started."

After spending several years launching successful programs in Asia, the organization has decided to turn their attention towards protecting children in the U.S. To that end, Love146 has worked hard to educate over 4,000 children in schools and group homes all across the country.

In addition to her work at The Insider, Anderson has always had a passion for philanthropy and a strong involvement in her community. Most recently, she traveled to Washington DC where she spoke to congress about bullying and keeping fitness education in the classroom. Brooke shared her personal experiences as a victim of bullying and the strength it gave her to become the successful woman she is today. Brooke is grateful for the opportunity to be involved with such a worthy cause and hopes to bring awareness and education to a harsh issue.
