  • (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2013 - Toronto, ON - Life Momentum was launched over the 2012 holiday season with a visit to Arusha, Tanzania, where CEO Hesham Shafie met with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), along with the children themselves, to identify the immediate needs and next steps for their local partner. Life Momentum and IDRF are also in the process of implementing a sustainable development program in Tanzania for disadvantaged children and youth to enable opportunities to learn English at a young age and provide technical skills training through the enhancement of a computer lab. To jump start the funding and sponsorship effort for the project, Mr. Shafie took on the task of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. He successfully summited the mountain on New Year's Day 2013.

Life Momentum is now taking things one step further. Together with The Remix Project their goal is to help level the playing field for marginalized youth in Toronto by funding and developing a workshop series lead by industry executives from across Canada in all business streams.

"Partnering with The Remix Project was an easy decision. We are equally committed to the development and support of marginalized youth, not only around the world but also right here at home in Canada," says Hesham Shafie, CEO of Brand Momentum and Life Momentum. "With a shared goal of increasing opportunities and an emphasis on developing relevant skills, we will be able to create a positive impact on our local youth by providing the training required to achieve their own livelihood goals."

Building on its initiative in Tanzania, Life Momentum will be funding programs to support the training of participants in The Remix Project's Creative Arts and Recording Arts programs. Young individuals enrolled in the programs are supported through nine months of training to ensure they are skilled before they transition to employment in the creative industries. Upon completion of the program, the participants are assigned an industry mentor to help guide them in the workplace. Brand Momentum and their clients will be offering an annual internship for graduates of The Remix Project to help support their transition into the workplace and position them for continued success in the industry. Additionally, Brand Momentum will be developing and facilitating a workshop seminar series, inviting industry executives to engage participants on a range of topics including branding & marketing, business ethics, financial literacy, resume building, goodness & social responsibility, as well as defining success.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with Life Momentum to deliver life-changing opportunities to young people across Toronto," says Derek "Drex" Jancar, Co-Founder and CFO of The Remix Project. "Finding common cause in our desire to support the creative and professional development of otherwise underserved youth, this alliance will further aid our programming to provide the rich level of hands-on skills training required for post-graduate success in the workplace."
