Boynton Beach Specialist Expands Women's Self-Defense Education
Pedro Rodriguez, founder of Boynton Beach Martial Arts Academy, is expanding women's personal protection education in South Florida and will host a self-defense seminar November 21, focusing on awareness, prevention, and de-escalation.

Rodriguez is a Personal Protection and Violence Prevention Specialist with 46 years of experience in self-defense. He is a Senior Instructor in Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT) and a Senior Instructor in Jeet Kune Do under Paul Vunak. He holds a 9th Dan in Hapkido, a 5th Dan in Ju Jutsu, a 3rd Dan in Arnis, and a 1st Dan in Wing Chun, and he is a Level 2 Instructor in Krav Maga. The curriculum teaches that personal safety begins before any physical contact. Participants learn to recognize behavioral warning signs, set clear verbal boundaries, use de-escalation, and move to create opportunities to disengage. Physical skills are taught for situations where avoidance and escape are not possible.
"Women deserve education that builds confidence and helps them make better decisions when their safety is at risk," Rodriguez said. "Self-defense is not only about physical technique. It is about awareness, boundaries, and knowing your options early." The seminar uses scenario-based learning so participants can practice these principles in realistic situations.
