Boxer Maureen Shea Launches Pandora Promotions To Produce Boxing Shows And Support Emerging Fighters

Shea, along with long-time backer Harrin Platzner, will be promoting boxing events that provide world class entertainment for fans and unique opportunities for flourishing boxers. This development will make Maureen the only active female professional boxer currently licensed to promote professional boxing shows in New York.

    Maureen Shea, a Bronx, NY native, will host her first show with Pandora Promotions on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn, NY. The show will be promoted in association with Global Boxing, a state-of-the-art training facility in the heart of North Bergen, New Jersey, where Maureen was recently named President.

    In reference to this new venture, Maureen states; "I am very excited that I am now in a position to give opportunities to hard-working athletes.     About Maureen Shea

    The current North American Boxing Federation (NABF) featherweight Champion and President of the North Bergen, NJ-based Global Boxing Gym, also who holds a professional boxing record of 15-2 (9 KO) and was born and raised in the Bronx, NY by a strict Irish father, a now retired NYPD Detective and a mother of Mexican heritage. Once she became an amateur boxer, Maureen was known and respected for her fighting skills. First training out of the NY Boxing Gym with Luigi Olcese, she was eventually brought to Gleason's to train with the legendary Hector Roca.

    As a professional, Maureen is well ranked in the top sanctioning bodies in women's boxing. Her boxing skills were also put to use in the corner, when she filmed a segment of MTV's "Made" in which she coached and mentored a young ballerina named Whitley to become a boxer. Shea is highly recognized for her work in training Hillary Swank for her award-winning portrayal of a boxer in Million Dollar Baby. She was also nominated by PETA in 2008 for Sexiest Vegetarian, and is actively working as a motivational and spiritual speaker.
