Botanicality Spring Art Show Entrants Announced

"Internet blogs, like Tumblr, are quickly becoming the homes to millions of stunning original art pieces in digital format," says Dallas-based science educator and BOTANICALITY creator, Dustin Miller. "Our art show recognizes their importance, and celebrates the changing face of the visual art scene."
During the month of April, the blog accepted spring-themed photographs, paintings, drawings, mixed media, and digital creations in an open call to all amateur and professional artists. Unlike traditional gallery-based art shows, the BOTANICALITY show is based on the popular blog site www.tumblr.com. Additionally, the winners of each category, that will be announced May 16, will be determined by the likes and reblogs by other Tumblr users. Those five winners will then compete for Best of Show honors, which will be announced on June 1st.
Says Miller, "Another aspect that makes our show unique is that the winners receive custom art recognizing their accomplishment, but they also receive an assortment of botanical prizes, including live plants, seeds, and vintage prints. As far as I've seen, there is nothing out there like it, and it really brings together a much larger plant community. This year, we have entrants from all over Europe and the United States."
The show is hosted by three Tumblr bloggers and plant enthusiasts spread across the United States. Miller, in addition to the art show blog, runs cactguy, a site devoted to cacti and xeriscaping. The other show co-hosts are flora-file, a California-based succulent blogger, and bromeliace, a Florida-based bromeliad blogger.
