Bob Young Marks 30+ Years of Helping Collectors Preserve Vintage Hot Wheels History

- (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2026 - NEW JERSEY - Redline Archeology today recognized founder Bob Young for more than 30 years of helping collectors preserve the history of original Redline Hot Wheels through research, collector education, and nationwide collection evaluations. Young's passion for the hobby began in 1968 when he received his first Hot Wheels car, The Silhouette, during Mattel's original launch of the brand. That childhood fascination evolved into a lifelong commitment to researching, documenting, and preserving the history of the original Redline era.
Since entering the hobby professionally in the mid-1990s, Young has evaluated original-owner collections throughout North America. His work has ranged from childhood collections untouched for decades to historically significant discoveries, including former Mattel employee collections, prototype vehicles, factory samples, and original blister-packed cars. Through decades of firsthand experience examining vintage Hot Wheels collections, he has become a trusted authority on Redline identification, authentication, and provenance.
Alongside his appraisal work, Young authored two books that have become respected educational resources within the hobby: Redline Archeology: A History of Digging' Up Original Hot Wheels Collections (2018) and Redline Archeology 2: The Dig Continues (2021).
Through Redline Archeology, he has also developed educational resources covering Redline identification, factory variations, valuation, and preservation, giving collectors practical guidance on evaluating, authenticating, and preserving original Redline-era Hot Wheels. His expertise has been featured on CBS, CW affiliates, and regional television broadcasts, bringing broader public attention to the history and collectibility of vintage Hot Wheels.
