  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2011 - Blo in Raleigh was recently named to the SALON TODAY 200 by the editors at SALON TODAY magazine, a respected business publication for salon and spa owners. The 200 top salons were selected for their best business practices from applications submitted by SALON TODAY readers, who represent the 25,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country. This is the fifth consecutive year Blo has been named to the SALON TODAY 200 list, an unprecedented accomplishment among all North Carolina salons.

Blo received top honors in five of the 12 categories - one of only two salons nationwide to do so. Blo qualified in Marketing, Customer Service, Environmental Sustainability, Technology, and the newest category added this year: Philanthropy.

Blo has grown for the past 26 consecutive quarters. The salon's industry recognition included mention of its unique "24-Hour Cut-A-Thon" charity event, held annually for the past four years. The event is the only of its kind in the region and has raised nearly $50,000 for Raleigh and Durham area nonprofits. Blo also has pioneered technology use in the salon, creating an iPhone application that allows guests to reserve appointments and check-in online, while also finding special deals at its weblog www.JustBlo.me.

"Our editors recognize that strong business leadership requires the mastery of a number of different best business practices," said Stacey Soble, editor-in-chief of SALON TODAY. "The salons named to the SALON TODAY 200 for 2011 not only proved they excel in one or more of these areas, they also have created rewarding environments for their staff members and standout experiences for their clients. Their willingness to share their success offers our readers important business benchmarks and fresh, sales-building ideas."

The publication's 14th annual SALON TODAY 200 honorees were profiled in a commemorative January/February issue. The magazine's 12 best practice categories are: Compensation and Benefits, Retention and Referral Programs, Customer Service, Recruitment and Training, Advanced Education, Marketing, Environmental Sustainability, Philanthropy, Retail and Merchandising, Technology, and Sales Growth.

Located at Brier Creek Commons in Raleigh, N.C., Blo is home to a talented design team where egos are passé and replaced with "A Lot of Hot Hair." Blo offers guests a unique, metropolitan experience featuring an energetic salon environment combined with the professionalism of North Carolina's most highly trained hair stylists. Blo was named to ELLE Magazine's Top 100 Salons last year and is one of only three salons nationwide to receive the industry's highest honor of a Global Salon Business Award. The salon has received international recognition as host to numerous magazine photoshoots, for its commitment to stylists' continuing education, and for its dedication to community service. Home to the state's one and only "24-Hour Cut-A-Thon," Blo has donated nearly $50,000 to area charities in recent years.
