  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2011 - News hit last week that the infamous Blackbeard ship "The Queens Anne's Revenge" found off the coast of North Carolina, has raised another canon, to the delight of historians and pirate fans alike. Great timing for author Marti Melville's Midnight Omen: Déjà Vu, is currently in development as a TV series. The thrilling historical paranormal romance, Midnight Omen, was inspired by true stories of swashbuckling pirates including Blackbeard. Filming will take place in the US and Caribbean in 2012.

Chills ran down Melville's spine when she recently read, "After 15 years of uncertainty, a shipwreck off the coast of North Carolina has been confirmed as that of the infamous 18th-century pirate Blackbeard, state officials say." - National Geographic

"They are pulling up cannons, artillery, and actual pirate gold, it's incredible! To know that these artifacts are from the exact time period I used in my novel is absolutely thrilling," Melville goes on to say, "Raising the cannon helps to confirm the ship as the Queen Anne's Revenge which is a magnificent discovery and is exciting to anyone who follows 18th Century history and pirate lore."

"The Queen Anne's Revenge grounded on a sandbar near Beaufort, NC in 1718, nine years after the town had been established. Blackbeard and his crew abandoned the ship and survived," according to National Geographic.

Due in part to her extensive research on the "The Golden Age of Piracy, including studying pirate ship artifacts," Melville is being praised for her exquisite descriptions. The story is rich with characters like Archer, who is a real pirate that really served as both Blackbeard's and John Phillips' Quartermaster - another historical nugget for the fanatics.

Magic, history, and mischief captivate as we follow Katherine, an RN enmeshed in the demands of the ER until a series of strange dreams sends cold fear coursing through her body. After being given the answers as to why she has such a "Gift" for healing, she's suddenly kidnapped by pirates. As she learns the ways of the pirates, her "Gift" quickly becomes an asset with the help of the ship's sexy bad-boy-turned-good Captain John Phillips.

"[This book] made me feel like I was on a pirate ship right along side Katherine and the pirates. Marti does a great job of taking the reader on the journey with her! I can't wait to find out where the sea takes me next!" -Amanda Felion
