  • Worcester, MA-CT (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2010 - Team Full Throttle (TFT) driver, Anthony Flannery, had an eventful birthday racing his #25 Belltown Motors Legends car at Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday, July 3. Despite significant body damage from a pile up on lap four of the feature, the track's most winning Legends driver drove on to collect his 13th win in a row.

"I was first to go out on Saturday for qualifying and waited the painstaking 15 minutes for each of the other 17 cars to put down their times," said Flannery. "At the end of qualifying our #25 was in the No. 1 spot and during the opening ceremonies we reserved the pole award and got the luxury of starting first for the feature."

After the start, Flannery's birthday luck seemed to change. On lap four, coming into turn one and two, Flannery got hit by the second place car who couldn't seem to hold the car down in the corner. Flannery drifted the whole back shoot trying to recover, but by the time he entered turn three he was turned.

"I tried to maneuver my car up the track and out of the way for everyone's safety, but the cars behind me seemed to follow," said Flannery. "I was in the middle of a mass of mangled cars and had to climb out of my passenger door because the 21 had my driver door pinned."

Flannery and his crew quickly inspected his car under caution, ripped of the torn up fenders and back body work, and got the car back on the track ready to race. He raced his way to the front and by lap 10 was making a run for the lead.

"I was in a hurry to get to the front," said Flannery. "On lap 14 I took the lead and drove it home for the 13th time this season. To get the win on my birthday was a wish come true."

Flannery will race again at Waterford Speedbowl during the "Wild 'n Wacky Wednesday" event on July 7.
