  • (1888PressRelease) November 21, 2012 - Hyderabad, 20th - BioAsia, Asia's biggest technology and bio-business platform has opened the nomination process for its annual awards organized by Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) jointly with Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB). The entry is open to all scientists, students and Individuals from member countries of FABA who are interested or are pursuing research in the areas of biotechnology / life sciences or have created a product of value/utility or have made a significant contribution to the field of life sciences industry. The Award categories include BioAsia Innovation Award 2013 and BioAsia Young Minds Award 2013.

    The entries will undergo a short listing process and shortlisted proposals (10 proposals for innovation award and 5 proposals for young minds) will be announced by end of December for exhibiting their presentation at the BioAsia Venue. Winner in each category will be selected by an expert team at the venue and the awards (INR 1 Lac for innovation award and INR 50,000 for young minds award) will be given away at Valedictory Ceremony of BioAsia 2013, the 10th edition of a successful and broad-spectrum global platform on Biotechnology and Lifesciences. BioAsia 2013 will be held from 28th to 30th January in Hyderabad.

    Prof. KV Raghavan, Chairman-BioAsia Organizing Committee & Vice-President FABA, INAE Distinguished Professor & Former Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) has stated that these annual awards have become a prominent feature at BioAsia and are aimed at encouraging and motivating contributions, initiatives and innovations in the biotech and life sciences arena. The awards that will be presented at BioAsia 2013 will also be an ideal platform for nominees to showcase their work to the global audience.

    Award Categories and Eligibility:
    BioAsia Innovation Award recognizes Young Scientist/Students across Asian members of FABA countries pursuing their research in any of the areas of biotechnology/life sciences, and who have created a product of applied value or generated a product of utility for the welfare of human society. Ten among the best proposals received shall be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the conference venue, the best amongst them would be awarded the BioAsia Innovation Award and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- (one lakh rupees, approximately 2000 USD).

    BioAsia Young Minds Award recognizes students of class 10th, 11th & 12th classes who have created a product of applied value or generated a product of utility for the industrial or public utility. Top five innovators will be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the BioAsia 2013 conference venue and the best amongst them will be awarded the BioAsia Young Minds Award and cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- (fifty thousand rupees, approximately 1000 USD).

    Rules for Entry
    • BioAsia Innovation Award: Only participants below the age of 35 years as on 31st Dec, 2012 is considered eligible for this award.
    • BioAsia Young Minds Award: Only students of class 10th, 11th & 12th can participate.
    • All research work submitted must be the original work of the participant.
    • Each participant should send an Undertaking to effect that the research work sent to the competition is his/her original. The organizers have the right to cancel the award/awards, if found otherwise.
    • The organizers of BioAsia reserve the right to use the accepted entries for publications/exhibitions taken up by BioAsia.
    • The last date for the receipt of the entries is Dec 20th. Entries received after the due date will not be accepted.
