Bill Hionas Cautions Investors Not to Panic at Every Swing in the Market

Top Quote The market for precious metals bullion can change very quickly, often on a whim or a rumor. End Quote
  • (1888PressRelease) October 19, 2011 - MIAMI, FL- As an example, gold traded significantly lower this morning, following a drop in the euro and a corresponding rise in the US dollar. However, by the end of the trading day, much of these losses had been recouped, leaving gold firmly back in the mid $1660s. This is still down slightly compared with the previous day, but is comparatively solid, as the dollar backed off from earlier highs.

At the same time, silver remained strong and palladium is poised to rise significantly as supplies dwindle over the next two years. What does all this mean for investors? Don't panic! It's really as simple as that; following every story in the media could persuade investors to buy or sell, only to find that the position has changed drastically a few days, or even a few hours later.

Precious metals bullion is unique in that it has an intrinsic value. It has been proven, time and time again, to hold its value and it provides investors with a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty. The ups and downs of the market should have little effect on the overall trends. Gold and silver bullion are both favored by investors looking for a safe haven but there has been increased investment interest in platinum and palladium also in recent years. The platinum group metals are more greatly affected by the economy due to their heavy dependence on the strength of the industrial sector. However, they can also serve as a safe haven when the economy is struggling.
