The site was founded as an online resource for news and information about big cats and small wild cats, and to help visitors connect with groups and organizations working to prevent wild cat extinction.
Wild cat populations have been declining rapidly around the world due to habitat loss, the disappearance of prey, poaching, trophy hunting and the illegal wildlife and pet trade. Some species have already gone extinct while others are very close to being lost forever.
"Our goal is to both educate website visitors on the different wild cat species and get them involved in efforts to protect and preserve these incredible cats," says BigCatsWildCats.com spokesperson Rebecca Rose.
The site contains articles on big and small wild cats across the planet, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Visitors can also access an international wild cat conservation directory with links to organizations involved in various wild cat research and conservation programs.
