Best-selling author launches new techno-thriller with competition to win a Kindle Touch

- (1888PressRelease) May 23, 2012 - M.G. Harris's THE DESCENDANT is a stand-alone novel for adults and older readers, set in the fictional world of her best-selling series, THE JOSHUA FILES. It was the author's first novel, written early in 2005 following the ski accident that kick-started a career as a successful novelist.
Like many first manuscripts, THE DESCENDANT was temporarily shelved when the author was gripped by another idea, this time for a young adult series; THE JOSHUA FILES, which quickly had offers from several UK children's publishers and was eventually published by Scholastic Children's Books, UK.
"Once I'd completed THE JOSHUA FILES, I felt it was time to return to the idea from which Josh's story sprang," said M.G. Harris. "I'd been keen to dip a toe in the whole world of self-publishing. It seems as though the opportunities for authors - whether traditionally published or not - have never been greater. THE DESCENDANT seemed like the ideal project. It was huge fun to revisit my first novel, an action-packed, twisty thriller that combines archaeology, genetics and mythology."

About M.G. Harris
Oxford-based MG (Maria Guadalupe) started writing after a ski accident at the end of 2004 left her immobile for weeks. She has a doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Oxford. Her first published novel, THE JOSHUA FILES: INVISIBLE CITY was the UK's fastest-selling children's fiction debut of 2008.
