  • (1888PressRelease) June 29, 2016 - Torrance, CA -, a leading massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) website, announced the publication of its Best MMORPG 2017 list that identifies the most wanted upcoming MMO games. This includes free to play, subscription, and buy to play titles.

The list is meant to be a tool that gamers can use to discover exciting new games that they may not have heard of yet. It features both popular big-budget releases and lesser-known indie or niche MMO games.

"There are quite a few MMORPGs in development that look very promising," said Olivia Morin, editor. "The nice thing about it is that these games are not just the usual localized Chinese/Korean MMOs; there are lots of ambitious new projects that are unique and interesting."

Seven games, chosen for their vision and potential, are on the best upcoming MMORPGs of 2017 list.

"MMOs these days need to focus on more than grinding. The games on the best MMO 2017 list are those that have aim to produce something special such as sandbox gameplay, player driven economies, extensive crafting systems, politics, and so forth," said Morin.

A new development in the MMO gaming industry is the rise of more affordable virtual reality (VR) gadgets for the public. VR, of course, has been buzzed about for a long time but this year marks the first time that VR headsets have become popular with the mainstream market. In fact, the research firm Tractica has stated that most people will wait until 2017 to buy a VR headset and more than 200 million will be sold by 2020.

Virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing games (VRMMORPG) are now becoming increasingly sought-after.

"Eve Online made a VR version of their game called 'Eve:Valkyrie' and Wizard Online is also developing a VR version for the HTC Vive (Steam VR) and Oculus Rift. 2017 is going to be a busy year for VRMMORPGs are more and more people buy VR gear," said Morin. "We plan to publish a lot of news and reviews of VRMMORPGs in the near future."
