  • (1888PressRelease) May 29, 2019 - Brea, Calif. – The International Accreditation Service (IAS) is pleased to announce that Best ISO Certification Co. Ltd is the first certification body to achieve accreditation from IAS under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Third-Party Certification Program. The accreditation recognizes Best ISO Certification Co. Ltd to certify foreign food facilities for exports to the U.S. Market.

“Best ISO Certification Co. Ltd is proud to receive the first accreditation from IAS that is recognized by the FDA to provide certifications for food companies outside the U.S. This achievement is dedicated to my father who recently passed away.” said Dr. Easter Huang, Best ISO General Manager.

“Best ISO is one of the few certification bodies in the world to receive this new accreditation that enables their company to provide US consumers with the necessary confidence for the food articles they consume on a daily basis” said Dimitrios Katsieris, IAS FDA-FSMA Program Manager. “The IAS accreditation process included a rigorous assessment of Best ISO’s office operations, as well as, a number of witness at the Certification Body’s client sites.”

In 2018 IAS was recognized by the FDA as an accreditation body under the Accredited Third-Party Certification Program. This program, established under the Food Safety Modernization Act, verifies the accreditation body competence through a rigorous application review and onsite assessment.

The FDA recognition allows IAS to accredit certification bodies worldwide that certify human and animal food production facilities, including but not limited to fresh produce, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, seafood and low-acid foods. Certified food facilities under this program can then register under the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program, which provides expedited review and import entry of human and animal foods into the U.S.

IAS is also recognized by Food Safety Certification Standard (FSSC) 22000, GLOBALG.A.P. and International Food Standard (IFS) to provide accreditation of certification bodies to meet the needs of the international food sector. IAS is also a signatory of the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation, International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, International Accreditation Forum, and a member of the International Halal Accreditation Forum.
