  • (1888PressRelease) November 01, 2012 - Holmdel, NJ - Dr. Shakov is fellowship-trained in Bariatric Surgery from The Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Hospital, where he also received training in the Da Vinci Surgical System and Foregut Surgery. Prior to completing his fellowship training, Dr. Shakov completed a surgical internship at Monmouth Medical Center, as well as a categorical surgical residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, where he held the title of Chief Surgical Resident.

    Dr. Shakov has received numerous honors and has contributed to multiple publications including: "Robotic adrenalectomy by an open surgeon: are outcomes different?," Journal of Robotic Surgery and "The Use of Wound Vacuum-assisted Closure (V.A.C. TM) system in the treatment of Recurrent or Complex Pilonidal Cyst Disease: Experience in 4 Adolescent Patients," The Internet Journal of Surgery.

    Dr. Shakov is fluent in Russian and is associated with numerous professional associations such as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons.
