  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2012 - Starting school in the fall is always an excuse to purchase trendy clothes, school supplies, and brand new shoes. For nearly 35,000 children in the Los Angeles foster care system, they wish for these things at the start of the school year. Hillsides' children need your support to make their school year the very best.

"We're asking the community to help us provide a fresh start to our children's school year by helping Hillsides get the basic school items," said Joe Costa, Hillsides CEO. "Our children face several challenges, whether it is learning disabilities or behavioral issues that create barriers to learning. With the right tools, we can break down the barriers and work one on one to ensure they experience academic gains and year round success."

Some companies like Stepping Stones in San Marino and Tokio Marine Management in Pasadena encourage their employees and patrons to donate items for Hillsides and Hillsides Education Center. Other companies, organizations or churches can engage their customers or parishioners to do the same.

All school supplies and other donations benefit the vulnerable children and special education students served by Hillsides, a premier provider of behavioral health care and education services. A current wish list of back to school supplies is on www.Hillsides.org. Anyone wishing to help the children's charity can contact Laura Kelso, Hillsides director of community resources, at (323) 254-2274.
