  • (1888PressRelease) May 28, 2025 - Since May 2025, the new album by harpsichordist and organist Simone Stella, considered one of the most important interpreters of the Baroque keyboard repertoire at an international level, has been available on all the most important online streaming platforms.

“Bach: Preludes, Fughettas and Fugues”, the first publication of the new Hymnos Classics label, contains the so-called “little preludes and fugues” by the great Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach (a repertoire known to all keyboard players since it is present in their training), presented here in their original version for harpsichord.

These pieces are both scattered and taken from some collections, such as the Little Book for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach or the one from 1725 for Anna Magdalena, the composer’s second wife. Although short in length, each of these pieces features all the typical Bachian compositional traits that can be found in the most famous major works (Toccata, Well-Tempered Keyboard, Suites to name a few examples). In performing these pieces, Simone Stella used a Zuckermann brand Flemish harpsichord that he wanted to tune with the meantone temperament at 1/6 comma, a rather singular choice (the temperament most often used for this repertoire is the Teutonic Werckmeister III) that gives a particular taste to the timbre of the instrument and to the expressive rendering of each piece.

The audio CD is available for purchase on Ebay.
