  • (1888PressRelease) June 02, 2012 - Schererville, IN - The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (www.autismspectrumdisorderfoundation.org), a national organization that provides direct support for families living with autism, partners with Autism Pensacola to provide financial support for its holiday gift card program and ninth annual Kids for Camp summer learning lab.

Kids for Camp is a six-week camp for children, teens, and young adults on the autism spectrum. The intensive, highly-structured camp provides a fun and engaging training program and education experience focused on improving life skills, social skills, community skills, self-help skills, and other areas of development. In 2011 the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation donated $10,000 to enable individuals from ages three to twenty-two to attend Kids for Camp.

Autism Pensacola's 2012 Kids for Camp will take place from June 25th through August 2nd. The success of last year's summer camp and the opportunity to help even more children and families living with autism inspired the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation to double its 2012 donation to $20,000.

"The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation is one of our best Kids for Camp partners," said Susan Byram, executive director of Autism Pensacola. "Their financial assistance provided funding for six kids to attend camp last year, and this year's even more generous donation will send twelve kids to camp. Our local autism community is grateful for Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation's continued support to touch the lives of children and young adults living with autism."

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation also provided funding for Autism Pensacola's annual holiday gift card program in 2011, and will match its donation of $500 gift cards for 10 deserving families in 2012. The $5,000 donation to Autism Pensacola's holiday gift card program is part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation's mission to support children with an autism spectrum disorder by providing education and financial assistance.

"I felt like Santa last year when I delivered the gift cards to families who otherwise wouldn't have been able to provide so many special gifts for their children," said Byram. "The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation's donation will help make another unforgettable Christmas for our local families living with autism."

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation looks forward to supporting organizations like Autism Pensacola for years to come with innovative outreach and targeted programs for children and families living with autism.
