Navaratri is one of the major festivals in India. It is a nine-day festival dedicated to Goddess worship. During the nine days, nine different forms of the Goddess are worshipped. The festival is celebrated twice a year in April and October.

Navaratri is observed to celebrate goddess Durga's conquest of the demon, Mahishasura. The battle between them lasted nine days, at the end of which the demon was killed. The nine days are celebrated as Navaratri. The festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
