  • (1888PressRelease) September 24, 2011 - Across the United States, there are vital extracurricular programs that are being cut annually due to growing budgetary constraints and lack of funding. Today's youth are missing out on extremely valuable opportunities, as well as the chance to have a little fun! Ashley Ford Sales of New Bedford wants to keep these opportunities available for our local students at the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Ashley Ford Sales is bringing Ford Motor Company's Drive One 4 UR School program to the greater New Bedford community in an effort to raise up to $8,000 for Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. For every person who takes the wheel and test-drives a new Ford vehicle at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday, October 15, Ashley Ford Sales and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. Drive One 4 UR School participants will also have an opportunity to earn an additional $10 for the school by taking a second test-drive in a 2012 Focus. Funds raised will support the School's After Prom Committee.

"Drive One 4 UR School is a great way for our dealership to partner with a local school for an important cause." says Bob Bancroft, owner, Ashley Ford Sales. "All of the money raised will help support the GNB Voc-Tech After Prom and their efforts to keep our local kids safe after such an important event."

"We were thrilled when Ashley Ford contacted the school and offered to host a Drive One program for us," states Jenn Gaspar with Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. "In this economy, it is difficult raising money for activities like our school's After Prom. This is a fantastic program and we hope the community helps us meet our $8,000 fundraising goal."

The event, which will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM, will feature many vehicles from Ford's impressive line-up. "Whether you are looking to test drive one of our larger vehicles, like the all-new Explorer, or are more interested in a smaller sedan, like the fuel efficient Fiesta, we will be able to put you behind to wheel of a car that peaks your interest," said Bancroft. Ashley Ford staff will be on site to provide additional information about each vehicle available for test-drive.
Since the start of Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program in 2007, more than $7 million in donations have been generated for schools nationwide.

To participate in this exciting event, please visit Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School located at 1121 Ashley Blvd in New Bedford between 9 AM and 4 PM on October 15.

Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license. There is a limit of one test-drive per household. All test-drives will last approximately 7-10 minutes. For additional information, please contact Linda Ferreira at 508-996-5611.
