  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2010 - On December 20th Nicole Berke, pianist, composer and vocalist will perform a set of her original songs at New York's Googie's Lounge, 154 Ludlow Street at 9:30 PM. It is a free concert and will be a rare treat for the NYC metro area. Artist to Watch (Boston Girl Guide) Nicole Berke currently resides in Portland, Oregon and is finally able to focus full time on her burgeoning music career. While in college, she realized her path as she began performing at local clubs and cafes. Berke explains, "Balancing school and music has been difficult but essential. I have always known that music is what I want to do with my life, but the learning process and experiences I have had so far have been extremely worthwhile." Aside from performing in Portland and other surrounding areas, Berke recently performed a live one hour set mixed with an interview at Pirate Cat Radio out of San Francisco, California.

In September of 2009 Nicole moved to Portland, Oregon where she completed her last year of college at Portland State College with a BA degree in Social Psychology from University of Massachusetts, Boston. Just two weeks after receiving her diploma in the spring of 2010, Berke jumped on tour with singer/songwriter Kiernan McMullan, traveling throughout the US performing and enriching all those that happen to be in listening distance. While on tour, she was featured on Fox 11's Good Day Morning Show out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. There, she sang a duet with McMullen and then impressed TV viewers with her solo performance of her single REASONS. REASONS from Berke's debut 5 song EP FRONDESCENCE, will be featured in the forthcoming full length indie feature film Un-Human. The film, written and directed by Devon Gidley is currently making the indie film festival rounds.

With a unique, soulful sound and lyrics that are poetic and personal, Berke connects with audiences in a powerfully honest and authentic way. Berke mixes jazz, pop and soul to perfection. Whether playing solo or with her trio, Berke is a communicator, and her years at college have proven an incredible spring board for what already exists in her music: the constant harmonious coupling of music and lyrics in a very enlightening way. No wonder her debut and to date only release from 2008 is titled FRONDESCENCE, a word which is defined as the process or period of putting forth leaves, as a tree or plant does, after time spent without them. The title defines Berke's philosophies on life, love, work and the pursuit of accepting the natural cycle of life with change and balance as our common experience.

Berke is currently composing songs for her second release. Denise Marsa, President of KeyMedia Public Relations who is mentoring and managing the young indie artist touts, "Nicole is a brilliant composer who is constantly challenging her own skills and creating some of the most exciting new music I have heard in a very long time. It is unusual to hear such a young female artist so clearly defined this early on in her career. She has a unique sound and that is getting increasingly difficult to find in today's indie artists."

Berke is also a featured artist in the unscripted documentary TV series currently in development, The Music Mentor.
