  • (1888PressRelease) November 21, 2010 - Arthur Rigby & the Baskervylles have released their new single, White Houses.

The song was produced by Whiskas (formerly of Forward Russia / Dance to the Radio) and features the live-set opener, Heroes, as the b-side.

Arthur Rigby & the Baskervylles are an 8-piece Orchestral Pop band, based in Leeds. The sound the band creates has been likened to that of The Divine Comedy, Guillemots and Elbow.

The music is the invention of front man and guitarist Benjamin, scoring songs for 2 violins, piano, double bass, trumpet, trombone, Saxophone and flute, and reviewers have described the sound as 'Wonderfully sweeping, intricate and majestic pop songs distinctly of the "they don't write them like that anymore" category'; 'quintessentially English'; 'impressively ambitious' and 'reminiscent of Neil Hannon's finer moments.'

Originally a 2-piece, with drummer Alex joining Benjamin, the Leeds based duo used orchestral backing arranged on laptops with samples and programming. Summer 2009 saw the band expand the line-up to include live session musicians during the recording of the single 'On my Own' (available on iTunes). These musicians quickly became a mainstay of the AR live experience, with a debut gig in Leeds, Oct '09, and the newly expanded line-up hasn't looked back.
