  • (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2010 - Parents, friends, colleagues and learners gathered together to celebrate the success of each of Babington Business College's graduates. Learners achieved a wide range of qualifications in Accounting, Business and Administration and Customer Service, whilst learning in the workplace with companies from across the Midlands and Yorkshire.

Personalised presentations to each graduate comprised a special commemorative scroll, as well as Apprenticeship certificate, presented by a very proud Dr Chris Payne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Frank Lord, Chairman, Babington Business College.

Dr Chris Payne, Chief Executive Officer enthuses: "This is a fantastic achievement for each and every one of our learners. They have all recognised that qualifications which demonstrate competence, are related to the needs of businesses, are valued greatly by employers and provide an invaluable head start in their chosen career.

"Each graduate is an inspiration to others, a great advert for young people to aspire to achieve and every one of them now has a bright future ahead of them. But what is even more gratifying is the fact that a large number of these young people will continue learning with Babington whilst working, to ensure that their skills and knowledge are up-to-date and relevant. I wish all of them great future success."

Twenty one year old Joe Meehan from Allestree in Derby, achieved his Association of Accounting Technicians Accountancy qualification with Babington Business College, whilst working at Yeomans & Staniforth accountants of Derby. Joe says: "My Apprenticeship in Accountancy is more than just a piece of paper, it's my future. When you do the maths, learning at work really adds up. I've got a great job, a great career opportunity and a real qualification that is mine for life."

Ross Staniforth is a Partner at Joe's employer, Yeomans & Staniforth. A former Apprentice graduate from Babington Business College, Ross also undertook his work-based learning at Yeomans & Staniforth and worked his way up to become a Partner.

A true ambassador of the benefits of learning in the workplace, Ross says: "I actively encourage young people to gain qualifications that employers value, and which are relevant to the jobs that are available. The job market is becoming more and more competitive so you need to be able to show your employer that you have the skills and knowledge to do the job to a set standard.

"Apprenticeships provide employers with the reassurance that you know what you want to do and are committed to your chosen career path."

Babington Business College is a pioneer of the Apprenticeship programme, with the first Accountancy Apprentice in the country. The college specialises in vocationally focused qualifications including Business Administration, Accounts, Providing Financial Services, Team Leading, Customer Service, Providing Mortgage Advice, Providing Financial Advice and Management.
