  • Grand Junction, CO (1888PressRelease) April 24, 2022 - A copy of the teen book, “If Grace is Dead, I Killed Her” was recently gifted in a “Bunny Bundle from Businesses” egg at the seventh annual Norwood, Colorado Easter Egg Hunt. The egg hunt is sponsored each year by The Divide Restaurant. This year, local businesses were given an opportunity to adopt a large fillable plastic Easter egg with items of their choice. Participant families were able to enter their names into a drawing for a chance to receive one of the eggs.

T.G. Starr is the name of a collaborative effort between US and UK writers, editors, and kindness activists. Writer Cheryl Jerabek is one of the representatives in the collaboration and is a local Norwood resident. Together with T.G. Starr’s founder, Niki Palmer, an egg was filled with Easter candy, an egg containing $40, and a copy of the book, “If Grace is Dead, I Killed Her.” A note was included asking the recipient to pass the book to a teen if there wasn’t one in the household.

In the book, the main character, Maddie, is a troubled fourteen-year-old bully whose target is a classmate, Grace, who is everything Maddie wishes she was – self-confidence and a loving family. When Maddie pushes her bad behavior over the edge, it’s uncertain if she’s gone too far. Grace is missing and Maddie knows if she’s dead, it all her fault.

Norwood is a small, sleepy little community nestled in the San Juan mountains in southwest Colorado. It boasts around 600 residents, much like the fictional town of Pine Cove in the book. In addition to the Easter giveaway, T.G. Starr will be sharing books with Norwood Middle School, Norwood High School, and the local library because bullying and cyberbullying can happen to anyone, anywhere.

“It was our pleasure to donate the book in the giveaway and we look forward to making more copies available in Norwood and around the world,” stated Jerabek. “The book really drives home the dangers of bullying but also takes a look at the bully, Maddie, and why she turned to bullying in the first place. It’s a read teens can relate to and hopefully learn from.”

To further warn of the consequences of bullying and to spread how kindness changes even the worst situations, copies of “If Grace is Dead, I Killer Her” are frequently donated to organizations and individuals.
