  • (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2022 - The Anouar Association for Development and Solidarity participates in a showcase where the local products of women’s cooperatives operating in the region, such as embroidery, carpet weaving, kaftan, traditional dress, organic couscous production, and other related products produced by women are exhibited, highlighting and promoting the cooperative works, rural women empowerment and solidarity, and social development in the Ait Faska region, Marrakech.

    This exhibition was organized in line with the third edition of the International Social and Behavior Change Communication Summit (SBCC 2022), hosted by Marrakech from December 5-9, 2022, and organized by a confederation of international and local organizations in the forefront of social welfare, transformation, and development such as the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, UNICEF, the American University of Beirut Center for Public Health Practice, Puntos de Encuentro, PRICELESS SA, IYAFP, Quilt.AI, Breakthrough India and Real Travel Services.

    The Third International SBCC Summit was kicked off by UNICEF Representative in Morocco, Ms. Speciose Hakizimana, as well as Ms. Jane Brown, Senior Program Officer at Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs, the Minister of Health and Social Protection in Morocco, Mr. Khaled Ait Taleb, and the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family in Morocco, Mrs. Awatif Hayar.

    The major convention in Marrakech received over 1,800 specialists and practitioners who will offer more than 260 discussions, conferences, workshops, and presentations to update and educate the participants on the different communication programs for social and behavioral change.

    Many VIP participants and special delegates in Morocco participated in the summit, including but not limited to Mr. Rachid Kadida, Secretary General, Director of Social Development of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family in Morocco, Mr. Naseem Awl, Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Morocco, Mr. Mohammed Dardouri, Wali in charge of the national coordination of the INDH, Ms. Nabila Bouchmal, Ms. Maha Dridat, Project Manager at the Ministry of Interior in Morocco, and Ms. Nassima Azzine, ENCG Fes laureate, Audit and Management Control option.

    The summit focuses on different premises, which will give the attendees a better understanding of the concepts, principles, and practices to address regional challenges and accelerate and sustain development and humanitarian impact. Such objectives include catalyzing transformational changes in the persistent challenges in the world, such as gender inequality, poverty, environmental protection, and societal issues in health, peace, and sustainability. Another subject is learning the initiatives and studies, innovations, and procedures that will facilitate the progress in social conditions and behavior. Lastly, serving as the platform for communication, the summit called on the SBCC and non-SBCC specialists, the UN and international non-governmental affiliates, development and humanitarian groups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, as well as the local, national government, private institutions, and educational institutions, and global experts from different parts of the world to create a collection of programs for development.

    The exhibition participated by Anouar Association features a series of meetings and received many visitors, which is a great opportunity to present the craftsmanship and expertise of the civil society in the rural area of Ait Faska, Marrakech, and to spread awareness and goodwill underlining the terms of behavioral and societal change in order to allow large groups of the society, especially in rural areas, particularly women, to empower them and effectively contribute to sustainable development and improve the conditions of their lives.

    According to Mr. Mohamed Dekkak, President of the Anouar Association, he is grateful to the organizers of the International SBCC Summit for choosing Marrakech as the event host. His association recognizes the importance of social and behavioral changes in society, which is why all its programs involve the participation of families, women, and children to reinforce their role in building and shaping the societies they want.

    Mr. Dekkak believes that the SBCC Summit will open doors for more conventions and programs to tackle different issues affecting society's living conditions.
