  • (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2017 - One more success: One of India’s leading and largest highway infrastructure developer companies, IRB Infrastructure, has gained yet another feather in its cap. The company has been conferred on the prestigious Construction Times Awards 2017, under the ‘Best Executed Project of the Year’ category, for its Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway project in Gujarat. Construction Times is a leading magazine dedicated to the construction and infrastructure sector.

The Ahmedabad – Vadodara expressway, for which IRB won this prestigious award, , is Gujarat’s prime lifeline from transportation point of view, as it connects two major cities of prime importance in the State, i.e., Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The project was constructed on NH 8, one of the busiest highways in the subcontinent, connecting the national capital Delhi to the financial capital Mumbai.

The Ahmedabad-Vadodara project comprises the section of NH 8 from km 6.4 to km 108.7 and the complete 93.302 kms of Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway.

IRB Infrastructure that has been associated with NHAI’s Golden Quadrilateral project is considered to be one of the most ambitious road plans. ‘The Best Executed Project of the Year’ bagged by IRB then, comes as no surprise for the outstanding contribution done by the road construction company.

Mr. Virendra Mhaiskar, the Chairman & Managing Director of IRB Infrastructure, was delighted at this development. He hoped to continue the quality work for developing safe and smooth highways along the length and breadth of India.

That IRB Infrastructure does an impeccable job, is evident from the fact that NHAI awarded the Ahmedabad-Vadodara project to the group on July 25, 2011. The concession period of the project is 25 years from the date of appointment, which is January1, 2013. The concessionaire is allowed to collect notified user fee from the road users during this period.

The project was given to IRB Infrastructure in order to expand a 102.3-km section of NH8 between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, and convert into 6 lanes from 2 lanes. IRB was also entrusted with the responsibility of improving the existing 93.302 km.
The project consists of 4 major bridges, 15 flyovers, 4 ROBs, 20 minor bridges, and 23 underpasses. There are total 5 toll fee plazas in the entire project. The project is not only going to save time and money, but will also provide a global road experience to the commuters, equipped with the best safety measures.
