  • (1888PressRelease) November 07, 2014 - Trivandrum - The key to preventing Type 2 diabetes in children and adults is avoiding obesity. By encouraging children to exercise and eat right from an early age, parents may be able to put a stop to this epidemic and set their children on the road to a long, healthy life.

Providence Endocrine & Diabetes Specialty Centre is organizing CAMP 2014, an annual get together of children with diabetes and their families. A turnaround of more than 50 diabetic children and their families from across the state is expected at the camp.

The camp will include talks and lectures by experienced persons with diabetes and leading endocrinologists, dieticians and child psychiatrists, free HbA1c checks, fine tuning of insulin techniques and self monitoring skills. Various cultural competitions and performances by the children have also been planned.

Experience sharing is a unique part of the sessions where families with diabetes affected children can exchange ideas and experiences. With proper medical treatment and a self-care program that incorporates exercise, glucose monitoring, and nutrition can help the child to keep his or her blood sugar under control and avoid serious complications.

The event called CAMP 2014 will be held at Pattom Royal Hotel, Trivandrum on November 16th from 9 AM onwards. The camp is open to parents too. Registrations for the same is free and all you need to do is fill the form and have someone from Providence contact you.
