  • (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2019 - The latest open source technologies in discussion included Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Data & Analytics and Quantum. There were also talks on other open source technologies from IBM at the day-long event.

The event was designed exclusively for developers and their skill enhancement. Amstar felt that it has a lot of niche opportunities on e-learning, reskilling pedagogy as it prides itself as a pioneer via its cost effective, cutting edge e-learning solutions.

IBM also went a step ahead and tied up with NASSCOM who were eager to announce their ‘India Developer Champions’. This is a new multi-year program campaign that shall recognize developer contributions to the open source community. Amstar Technologies will also be initiating talks with NASSCOM to provide unhindered assistance to developer community at large in days ahead to come. While Ginni Rometty, president and CEO, IBM in her opening keynote reaffirmed on IBM’s commitment to open source technologies and ecosystem in her three guiding principles:

    1. Open Governance
    2. Open Collaboration
    3. Giving back to the open source community

This move will inspire thousands of nominations from individual developers, as well as those from enterprises and startups to join the IBM Bandwagon. This will create a single, unified platform to acknowledge outstanding developers who are the key driving force behind groundbreaking technologies that are impacting millions of lives positively globally. While Developers are indigenous engines of innovation in business and society, IBM went a step ahead and created this initiative. We are glad to partner with them on this noble initiative adds Mr. Joseph Jayakumar, Director Amstar Technologies.

Why this move? Bob Lord, IBM Senior Vice President, Cognitive Applications and Developer Ecosystems adds that IBM wants to create a spotlight on the 23+ million developers, data scientists working across industries and through their creativity and skill, are making a real difference to society. The IBM Developer Champions program will help shine a light on the significant contributions coming from open source developers in India – a massively-important untapped market.

IBM also announced a lot of niche programs for developers and the tech ecosystem like,
    - Girls of Code –IBM announced their collaboration with state governments across India to prepare 200,000+ girls and women in government schools over the next three years for “new collar” jobs. The ‘Girls of Code’ campaign will provide 50,000+ top-performing female students a unique opportunity to participate in coding challenges and ‘Code and Response’ hackathons conducted by IBM globally.

    - Code and Response – In its first year of Code and Response, IBM announced that it will pilot Project Owl, the winning solution from Call for Code 2018, in disaster-struck regions like Kerala, Puerto Rico, North Carolina and Osaka. IBM’s Code and Response is a $25+ million, 4 year global deployment initiative to put open source technologies developed as part of coding challenges such as Call for Code in the communities where they are needed in a crisis.

    - Call for Code – While this is new the registrations for ‘2019 Round of the Call for Code Global Challenge’ are still open. The Call for Code campaign by IBM is the largest and most ambitious effort which seeks to bringing start-up, academic and enterprise developers under one platform. They aim to leverage cloud, data and AI to develop technologies that improve health and community well-being for those impacted by natural disasters.

Lastly we are thankful to IBM for conducting a niche successful event like this. These significant contributions will definitely boost the morale of open source developers in India, a important market and we are here to assist the developer in his lifecycle journey adds Kalyan, IT module lead at Amstar Technologies which has trained more than 3600+ customers globally till date.
