When asked about his trip, Loewen said, "I grew up near Denver in Leadville, CO, and during my youth, I learned firsthand that energy played a critical role in people's lives, because the mine in my town, our economic engine, used over 10% of Colorado's energy resource. This helped me appreciate the importance of our beloved science and technology as a means to improve our standard of living worldwide. I'm particularly delighted to be visiting with so many of my friends who are members of ANS and who are continuing the work which is so important to our future."

Loewen covered a wide range of topics on his tour: he discussed the contents of ANS's premier technical journal Nuclear Technology regarding recycling reactors with the students at the School of Mines, and the future of nuclear energy for our grandchildren to the ANS Colorado Local Section. At NFT and SA Technologies, he supported their work with the presentation of Organizational Memberships in ANS and learned how those firms are supporting the industry

"Eric's presidency started in June, after the Annual Meeting of the American Nuclear Society, and this first tour as president is a wonderful way for him to inaugurate his tenure," Tilbrook added. "He is such a valued member of this Society," he concluded.

Its 11,500 members come from diverse technical backgrounds covering the full range of engineering disciplines as well as the physical and biological sciences.
