  • (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2010 - Amadeus Consulting, a custom software solutions company based in Boulder, recently presented the robust technology behind Denver B-cycle to the Boulder New Tech Meetup. B-cycle, which launched in Denver on Earth Day this year, is the first national bike-sharing system of its kind.

The New Tech Meetup, held monthly at CU's Wolfe Law, is designed to give custom software developers and technology enthusiasts a chance to review each other's ideas and review new forms of technology. It is a forum for new technologist to gain feedback and draw awareness to their new products that have included many of the startups located in Boulder and Denver.

Amadeus Consulting's chief executive officer John Basso presented the full-scale enterprise custom software application that they created as the basis for Denver B-cycle, and the B-cycle systems currently being installed in Chicago and other major cities.

The enterprise software system included: administration website that interacts with custom kiosk software and integrates 13 points of information, a Web services site for B-cycle members to track user statistics (costs, mileage, carbon offset and calories), as well as mobile application development for both the iPhone™ and Android™ devices.

The Amadeus Consulting custom software developers leveraged their unique skills with WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) and Microsoft Silverlight development to handle not only the technology portions of the custom application development, but also the look and feel of the software applications.

John Basso said of presenting to the New Tech crowd, "This crowd isn't afraid to ask the tough questions, so it's sort of a badge of honor to present cool technology. We're really excited not only to present our custom application development to them, but just show more people the possibility of B-cycle. It was a great project for us."

Much of the feedback from the New Tech Meetup crowd was centered on the unique business model of B-cycle, how certain aspects of the Microsoft Silverlight application functioned, and when B-cycle was coming to Boulder. Members of the Boulder B-cycle team were on-hand to answer questions about Boulder's upcoming program, and to give away a free year membership.

    About B-cycle

B-cycle is a company formed by powerhouses Trek, Humana and Crispin Porter + Bogusky, who came together to change the landscape of American cities through a bike-sharing program. B-cycle is not your average third generation bike-sharing program, but is considered "fourth generation" because it is incorporating smart technology, such as RFID tracking and process automation into the solution. Each of the companies are in a unique position to make this successful by making bikes accessible to everyone in order to increase the health of users and lower carbon emissions in B-cycle cities.
